Black Tie Dinner is an annual fundraising event held in Dallas, Texas. Since its inception in 1982, the event has raised millions of dollars for organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community. The dinner brings together a diverse group of individuals, including community leaders, activists, and allies, to celebrate the progress that has been made and to continue the fight for equality.
The evening features a cocktail hour, silent auction, and dinner, followed by live entertainment and a keynote speech by a prominent LGBTQ+ figure. The event provides a platform for individuals from all walks of life to come together and support a common cause, making it one of the most anticipated events on the Dallas social calendar.
Challenge
The Black Tie Dinner Board of Directors recognized that they needed to appeal to a younger audience through new and creative marketing strategies in order to prepare itself for long-term sustainability.
Insight
The annual theme of the event presented the perfect opportunity to incorporate topics that would resonate with a wider audience. Moreover, Black Tie Dinner’s sponsorship of various events held throughout the year played a key role in generating interest and sustaining momentum.
Solution
We were able to incorporate a wide range of topics by developing aspirational and whimsical themes such as Affair of the Heart and One Voice. To highlight their mission and increase engagement through storytelling, we utilized various platforms including social media, event photography, beneficiary videos, and email campaigns. Additionally, we introduced new “Black Tie Dinner Happy Hour” events.
Relevancy
James Ford, the Founder and CEO of Ford Multimedia, served on the Board of Directors for Black Tie Dinner for more than three years. During his tenure as Marketing Chair, he successfully streamlined processes, improved creative output, and forged valuable relationships through his extensive network at Ford Multimedia.
